Electric Garage: Lady Florence Norman, Autopod, 1916

QgYsYQ4

There’s not much more to add.  Via Reddit r/MachinePorn.

This is all I’ve got:

“Lady Florence Norman, a suffragette, on her motor-scooter in 1916, travelling to work at offices in London where she was a supervisor. The scooter was a birthday present from her husband, the journalist and Liberal politician Sir Henry Norman.”

Specs?  Oh, I’d say 12V, front some-sort-of-gear drive.  Awesomesauce.   Razor don’t got nuthin on this, bitch.

EDIT:  See the comments.  This thing’s gas.  Check out this post from Wackyboards on the Autoped.

  1. Sorry Ted. If you look closer at the front wheel, you will see the spark plug sticking out of the head, lots of cooling fins on the cylinder too. That is an ICE hubmotor. The tank is on the other side of the wheel.
