Most people who know me well enough to hang out in the back yard burning crap and drinking beer will probably be muttering to themselves THANK GOD this jackass is finally building that solar generator thing he’s been yabbering about drunkenly for so frikkin long.
The people who know me better than that will be muttering, oh crap, he’s gone and done it. Now it’s ALL WE’RE GOING TO HEAR ABOUT FOR SIX MONTHS.
Here’s the analog modeling stage – actually laying stuff out on the other stuff to see how the fit is. The idea is these two 200W panels running to a (fairly old but still awesomely serviceable) charge controller, which will charge the (re-purposed) CALB 3kwh pack. That pack will be powering the inverter, which will be powering the lithium-specific battery charger on my bike packs. Which are getting rebuilt with some cells I can’t talk about yet. shhhh.
The panels will mount with quick-connects and an adjustable angle strut support thingy, and when I’m traveling, will mount along the sides, safe and sound, on either side of the bike. Batteries and hardware will be weatherproof, and along the sides as well, tool-box style.
More to come…
