With no fanfare whatsoever, Mars LLC, the folks who brought us the ME0709 brushed PMDC “EtekRT” motor today released the brandy-new ME1003– a brushed, (rumored 16 brushes?) PMDC motor “capable of 11.5 KW continuous and 23 KW for 1 minute. For voltages from 12 to 72 VDC input and 200 amps continuous (550 amps for 1 minute)”.
At half the price of the Agni, with “similar performance”, could this be the next last word in PMDC motors? Granted, it’s 10lbs heavier (50% more) and with a lower continuous peak than the Agni- should be interesting to see what people do with this.
They also released the ME1002: a series wound DC motor for truck and small car EV conversions. It is 10 inches in diameter, weighing 203 pounds- continuous current of 200 amps, and 550 amps for 2 minutes, voltages from 48 to 144 VDC
About Mars, from John Fiorenza at Mars Electric LLC:
“As to Mars Electric LLC, we are a niche motor designer and distributor for low voltage, high efficiency motors and controls. We design the motors in the USA, and have them made in China to reduce the product and tooling costs. We have been in business since 1997. Our core focus is to develop specialty motors for OEM applications, but we also sell motors to a few dealers in the EV markets. Our warehouse is located in Mequon, Wisconsin, and most of our orders are drop-shipped directly to the customer.”
