TT Zero 2012 (Dept of AWESOMEness)

Mr. Domenick Yoney of Autoblog Green slammed this bitch outta the park with his preview of the 2012 TT Zero at the Isle of Man.  Check out his preview of the teams competing here.

I count eight teams, and more bikes…  wait no.  From the IOM TT site: “It has been confirmed 18 competitors intend to line-up to take on the electric bike challenge, each hoping to become the first rider to crack the 100mph average speed over a lap of the legendary 37.73-mile Mountain course.”  Now THAT’s exciting stuff.

What would be really awesome if there was some calendar and schedule on the site somewhere…  wait.  Is it this weekend?  OMGOMG!

New Tank (Dept of Gorgeousness)

OK I finally got my 1972 Yamaha TD3/TR3 replica tank mounted and painted.  Here it is, first fitting:

HUGE thanks to Rick Merhar, at Accu-Products for his amazing work!

Motor Cooling Geekout

Here’s more than I ever will be able to comprehend on why motor cooling is a good thing.

Explanation of Motor Cooling Technology

Here’s a picture.

…and a formula.

…from my extensive research on the subject, I must conclude the following:  Heat, BAD.

(Seriously, thanks Hughes!  Cool stuff…  oh, man, did you see what I did there?)

The Andover Electric Moped Frankenstein Run

I knowz…  I’ve been delinquently neglecting my Electric Chronicles.  New job, a rebuild of my wife’s MG and some other projects and events have just buried me.  My son, however, has been carrying the torch, with the Andover Electric Moped – a build on a Motobecane chassis with an ETEK and a gaggle of Headways – for his Senior Project.

Taking the Duct-Tape Method to new levels, (using bungee cords), he made his Frankenstein Run yesterday.  Here’s the proof:

Congrats to Brammo, Empulse Released

A lot of blood, sweat and tears, and finally the release!  Congratulations to the team at Brammo, and great work!  I know I’ve been a critic, but it’s been because I truly believe in what they’re doing.

Oh yeah…  and WHERE did you hear that Shelina was teaming up with Brammo FIRST?  HmmmMMMHHHMMMmm??

Larry McBride and Lawless Bust 7!

History, folks.

“The Lawless Electric Rocket bike piloted by Larry Spiderman McBride made history May 4, 2012 with a record run of 6.940 at 201.37 mph making it the first electric vehicle to break 200 mph in the quarter mile! Larry is also the first to take a top fuel motorcycle to 5 seconds and now the first to take an electric in 6 seconds. The Rocket bike was built by Lawless Industries and Orange County Choppers.”

Just got this:
