so, OK… battery technology continues to dribble in. These guys are also based in the US, along with A123 and Valence, and are kicking a little butt with the NiCoMax technology. Not quite as dense as the ThunderSky, energy-wise, but hell, if they return my emails and I can keep my money out of the Far East, well, it’s worth it!

Their site here.

crap. story here.

…is good old–fashioned American Sales.

I’m just sayin. I’ve been trying to get someone to sell me a motor, batteries, and a controller for how long now? I waited a month to hear back from Zero Motorcycles about a test ride, and then got spammed by the local dealer (emailed me a “personal” response along with cc’s to the other 60 people on his contact list- nice). The slick electric scooter guys down in New Bedford don’t have a working website.

This industry can’t find it’s Sales ass with both hands.

Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki- are you reading this? Probably not, but how hard would it be to release an EV line of bikes and pump them to your dealers?

A great description of riding electric- via Gizmag. Thanks Derek!

…TTX GP founder Azhar Hussein built a demonstrator electric superbike based around a Suzuki GSX 750 and dubbed it the TTX01. It’s the first prototype of what he hopes will become a production motorcycle within a year or three. Long-time motorcycle writer Stuart Barker journeyed to the Isle of Man to become one of the first people in the world to sample the battery-powered TTX01 and his impressions are our first glimpse into the future of motorcycling. Stuart discovered that riding a silent motorcycle is an eerie experience, but not completely devoid of fun. Welcome to the future!

As I glide past a people carrier at 70mph on a silent motorcycle, it’s hard not to wonder if I’m involved in something very special…

my head hurts.

Battery answers

OK, in the spirit and tradition of our sponsors, Head-2-Head Reviews, here’s the battery matchup- just gimmee the facts, m’am…

…seems clear enough. (To get maximum range on the things, we’re looking for the best amp-hour rating per pound. Check the AHr/lb column.)
